A President Donald Trump supporter told FOX Business he was verbally attacked by staffers at a Cheesecake Factory in Miami Sunday while dining. The reason: He was wearing a “Make America Great Again” ” cap.
Eugenior Joseph said he initially ignored the comments from the staff.
“They all started getting behind us, and one of the [workers] was saying, ‘I’ll knock the hat off his head, I’ll hit him so hard that I’ll knock his hat off,’” Joseph told “Fox and Friends” in an interview on Wednesday.
“They were clenching their fists and standing behind me, trying to scare us and stuff ‘I wasn’t really intimidated by anything, but … it was just sad,” he recalled.
The Cheesecake Factory issued a statement on Tuesday apologizing for the incident. It also stated that two of the workers at the Dadeland Mall location were fired over the incident.
“All guests should always feel welcome in our restaurants. The recent incident in one of our Miami restaurants fell short of our standards, and we apologize to the guest and his family. Two individuals are no longer employed by the company, and we are continuing to investigate,” the restaurant chain said on Twitter.
Joseph claims more than two employees were involved.
The Daily Wire reported that witnesses claimed that up to a dozen employees were involved, some even used the N-Word referring to Joseph.
Mathew Staver, an attorney representing Joseph, said they might file a complaint against The Cheesecake Factory over race.
“Some of them used the N-word. Obviously, they’re referring to his being an African-American,” Staver said,
Joseph’s group decided to leave the restaurant after realizing it was no longer safe to stay.
“Mother’s Day was completely ruined. It’s just sad, the outcome, the way it happened,” the Trump supporter said.
“At the end of the day, it isn’t about being black, white, or race — anybody could have worn the hat, a white man, a Latino man. It’s just about freedom of speech. This is America. Everybody should be entitled to their own opinions and their own beliefs. If somebody wants to wear the MAGA hat, you should support their decisions.”
“Nobody should be disrespected, treated the way I was treated,” Joseph said.
