WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- American professional racing driver Danica Patrick admitted that she is officially dating Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
- The 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series Most Popular Driver confirmed the news to The Associated Press on Monday.
- Patrick ended a long relationship with NASCAR driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. while Rodgers split from actress Olivia Munn.
Awarded Rookie of the Year for both the 2005 Indianapolis 500 and the 2005 IndyCar Series, Danica Patrick became the most popular and successful female race car driver in American open-wheel racing history.
Illinois-based Patrick is a Chicago Bears fan but will soon change allegiances after confirming that she and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers are dating.
Patrick said that she met the football star at the 2012 ESPY Awards.
“I told him a long time ago I’d always root for him as a player,” Patrick told the AP. “Now I am probably going to cheer for the whole team. Take out the word ‘probably.’ Now I’m going to cheer for the whole team.”
Both athletes were from long-time relationships.
Patrick just got out of a five-year relationship with fellow race car driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in November. Meanwhile, Rodgers broke up with actress Olivia Munn last year after three years of being together.
The 35-year-old eighth placer in the 2013 Daytona 500 qualifier announced her plans to retire from full-time racing this season after competing in the 2018 Daytona 500 and the 2018 Indianapolis 500. She has not mentioned a deal for either race.
A Chip Ganassi Racing executive recently told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio that they were no longer making a deal with Patrick about a ride in either race.
Patrick began her stock car racing career in 2010 in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (known today as Xfinity Series), finishing fourth at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2011. She ranked 28th in the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series.
