WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- Supergirl season 3 premiered on Oct. 9 at CW with episode 1 titled “Girl of Steel” introducing a new mysterious character with an awesome strength that could be Supergirl’s most fearsome foe yet.
- The new character is Reign, known to be Supergirl’s enemy in the DC Comics.
- But during the first episode, Reign, played by Odette Annable, hasn’t realized her powers yet, even surprised herself when she was able to crush steel.
Supergirl fans were all excited to see its premiere episode introducing a new character who will become the heroine’s adversary.
During the first episode, Lena Luthor presented a “Girl of Steel” statue right in front a huge crowd of Supergirl fans. National City was attacked by submarine missiles. Among the crowd was a beautiful mother whose instinct of protecting her child made her realize she’s not an ordinary woman.
Samantha, the protective mother was able to crush steel with her hands by trying to rescue her daughter from underneath a massive piece of steel beam. Supergirl fans immediately recognized that this character is going to be Supergirl’s DC Comics’ enemy, Reign.
During an interview, the show’s executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said, “When we meet Reign, she’s just a woman. Her name is Samantha and she’s a single mom, and she has no idea that she is Reign; she has no idea that she was the baby in the pod at the end of last season, so the journey that she takes this season is watching her realize her heritage and see how it manifests.”
Reign is known in DC comics as the leader of the World Killers, a group of genetically engineered Kryptonian warriors.
Let’s all see what new adventures await Kara and the gang this new season especially now that she’s having a hard time dealing with the loss of Mon-El.
