WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- The ex-boyfriend of a Hollywood sex Therapist was retaken into custody only a day after posting bail on murder charges.
- Amie Harwick was found on Saturday morning, unconscious and seriously injured underneath the balcony of her Hollywood Hills home.
- Harwick’s former boyfriend faces a possibility of the death penalty ensuing the murder charge.
The former boyfriend of famous Hollywood sex therapist, Dr. Amie Harwick, was re-apprehended and charged with a murder case, announced on Wednesday by the District Attorney’s (DA) office of Los Angeles County.
Amie’s ex-flame, Gareth Pursehouse, is facing one count of murder, another case of first-degree residential burglary.
The lawsuit also came with a special circumstance allegation of lying in wait, and that would mean that he also faces a possibility of the death penalty.
Gareth allegedly killed Harwick over the weekend by tossing her from the third floor of the balcony in her apartment in Hollywood Hills.
Pursehouse is eligible for either the death penalty or life imprisonment without parole should he be convicted of the charges he was being accused of. The decision to whether he’ll be under capital punishment will be discussed later, according to the district attorney’s office.
The former boyfriend of Amie will be arraigned on Thursday.
It was around 1:16 a.m on Saturday when the police responded to a dispatch call from a report about what seemed to be screams of woman within the vicinity of Hollywood Hills. The police who went to the scene said that they found Harwick, unresponsive, and fatally injured below the balcony of the third floor.
Amie was declared dead later; she was only 38 years old.
Investigators reported that the Hollywood therapist had earlier filed a restraining order against ex-boyfriend, Gareth, on the grounds of fear. It was also reported that the restraining order’s validity had already expired before the incident.
FBI-LAPD Task Force on Saturday apprehended Pursehouse but was released Tuesday after posting a $2 million bond. On Wednesday, he was re-arrested on a no-bail warrant, according to the DA.
Harwick, formerly a Playboy model, has advocacy focused on sex workers and supported a non-profit cause that helps the funding of the adult industry worker’s mental health care.
In 2018, “The Price Is Right” show host Drew Carey was Harwick’s fiancée, but they called it quits less than a year into the engagement.
“The Price is Right” production has been paused while Carey grieves the loss of his ex-fiancee.
