- New York City Governor Andrew Cuomo is positive that his brother will fully recover from the virus.
CNN News Anchor Chris Cuomo, 49, has tweeted that his test results came back positive for coronavirus. Cuomo said he started showing symptoms after his exposure to others who also tested positive for the virus.
“I have been exposed to people in recent days who have subsequently tested positive and I have fever, chills and shortness of breath,” he said.
The news anchor is currently isolating himself in the basement of their home and will continue working from there.
“I just hope I didn’t give it to the kids and Cristina. That would make me feel worse than this illness!” he said.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), brother to Chris, mentioned the coronavirus diagnosis of the news anchor in his daily briefing Tuesday. The governor maintains his confidence that his brother will recover from the virus, saying that his brother is “not as strong as he thinks, but he will be fine.”
CNN has reported that Cuomo was last seen at their Hudson Yards headquarters in New York City on Friday after tracing the places where the news anchor has been. The news station reports this as their third case of coronavirus at their New York offices after employees were notified of another case in mid-March.
MSNBC and Fox News also have announced coronavirus cases in their New York offices as the news companies continue to broadcast.
Johns Hopkins reported, as of Tuesday afternoon, that there are more than 38,000 confirmed cases with 914 deaths related to the coronavirus pandemic that have been recorded in New York City.
