WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- A couple’s marriage in Kuwait is believed to be the shortest in the country’s history.
- The husband and wife didn’t even make it out of the courthouse as a married couple.
- The pair filed for a divorce just three minutes after being married after the husband mocked the wife and called her ‘stupid.’
A couple in Kuwait got a divorce after only three minutes of being husband and wife. It turns out the groom mocked the bride as they were leaving the courthouse.
When the legal proceedings ended, the newlyweds turned to leave the scene, but the bride tripped over. The groom allegedly called his new wife ‘stupid’ for falling over.
Q8 News, a local media outlet, reported the woman became very angry and immediately asked the judge who married them to end their marriage.
The judge agreed reluctantly and served an annulment, just three minutes after he married them.
The newlyweds never even left the courthouse as husband and wife. Their marriage is believed to be the shortest one in Kuwait’s history.
The story is so bizarre, it has been shared extensively online and many social media users believe the bride made the right decision.
One Twitter user wrote: “A marriage with no respect is a failed one right from the beginning”, Mail Online reported.
Another social media user commented: “If this is how he acts right at the beginning, it’s better to leave him.”
The Mirror has reported a similar story last week when a bride insulted her groom when she arrived at the altar. The wife-to-be demanded he changes his outfit.
On the latest episode of Australia’s Married at First Sight, 28-year-old bride Ines Basic, apparently wasn’t impressed when husband-to-be Bronson Norrish turned around and said hello on their wedding ceremony.
When Basic reached the altar, Norrish introduced himself to all their family and friends in attendance. She replied with a ‘hi’ then immediately insulted the groom’s appearance.
“Can we get rid of the eyebrow ring please?” Basic said.
Norrish laughed awkwardly then replied: “Not very easily, no.”
Wedding guests and the audience were shocked by her opening line, with one guest saying: “I can’t believe she said that.”
