WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- Elon Musk and Grimes have welcomed a baby boy and have chosen a very unconventional name for their newborn son: X Æ A-12.
- Twitter users take turns taking their guesses on the proper pronunciation of the name.
- It is unclear whether Elon Musk is joking about the name he announced on social media or it is the actual name given to their newborn son.
Elon Musk and Grimes have welcomed a baby boy into this world. Musk confirmed this on Monday, sharing the news of the birth of his child online. The couple have chosen a very unconventional name for their newborn son: X Æ A-12.
The name mentioned on social media after someone asked about the name of the newborn. “We need the name we literally need it,” to which Musk responded, “X Æ A-12 Musk,” and shared two photos of the baby with a photo effect and filter that put face tattoos on their newborn son.
The proper pronunciation of the name was indirectly confirmed on Twitter after Musk liked the tweet asking about the name, “X Ash Archangel?”
The tweet detailed the deduction process used, putting a screenshot of a Wikipedia page that explained Æ is a ligature named ash attached to the tweet. He also thinks that A-12 is in reference to the CIA aircraft Lockheed A-12 with the codename: Archangel.
The second speculation on the pronunciation of the name also came from Twitter. The user thinks that the name is Xavier, saying, “So I feel like a genius for breaking the code to Elon Musk and Grimes baby boys name. It’s Xavier. X-a, then 1 in mandarin is ‘yee’ and 2 is ‘er.’ Thank you for listening to me, a stable genius.”
However, Elon Musk already has a son named Xavier. Twins Xavier and Griffin, and triplets Damian, Saxon and Kai are born to Musk and Justine Wilson in their previous marriage.
Grimes first confirmed the pregnancy in January, bearing her first child. The Canadian singer made no comments on social media about the name of their son.
The name X Æ A-12 is still confirmed at this point. This depend on whether Elon Musk is joking about the name he announced on social media or not. However, public figures choosing unconventional names for their children is not unheard of, especially in Hollywood.
The representative for both Elon Mush and Grimes did not respond to the requests for comments.
