A nanny that was hired to care for a Florida family has now been sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting their 11-year-old son and giving birth to his baby.
Marissa Mowry, now 28 years old, first began abusing Chris McBride when she was 22 and he was just 11. She gave birth to his child in October 2014 and kept it a secret from the boy’s mother.
Chris told Inside Edition how Mowry, who lived with the family while working as their nanny, took advantage of his innocence.
He stated, “It was a game called ‘are you nervous,’ and the object of that game was she’d place her hands somewhere on my body and I’d say if I was nervous or not and things escalated from there.”
He said that it happened almost every night.
“She said that she loved me. She said that she wanted to date but she couldn’t let anyone know because it was obviously wrong,” he stated.
He said that Mowry had told him, “You have to lie or else I’m gonna have to go away.”
He recalled that when Mowry told him she was having his baby, “I was a little bit freaked because I was confused.”
Mowry continued to live with the family after giving birth to baby Bentley, but told them that another man was his father.
Chris eventually revealed the truth to his mother, Nadene Campbell. A DNA test proved it was true.
Nadene recalled, “When the results came back, I went and threw up.”
The nanny was soon charged with multiple counts of sexual battery.
Nadene said she felt “like a failure,” adding, “how did I let this woman manipulate me and my family in such a way that she could do this and I was blind to it?”
Mowry pleaded guilty in October and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. She will have 10 years of probation after serving and will also need to register as a sex offender.
Bentley, who is now 5 years old, proudly declared that Chris is “the best daddy!”
Chris admitted that being a teen father isn’t easy as he is missing out on his childhood. But he’s determined to turn something negative into something positive for his son.
