A Russian fisherman, who sails the Norwegian Sea, has caught an array of bizarre-looking sea creatures.
Roman Fedortsov often posts photos of his rare catch but a fish his Instagram followers called a ‘baby dragon’ became a viral hit.
The weird-looking marine animal has light pink and silver color with big cartoon-like eyes on each side of its head. The ‘baby dragon’ has wing-shaped fins and a long, spiked tail.
“Just a quote ‘It’s one thing to chase something nameless, but quite another thing to find it’ – G.F. Lovecraft,” Fedortsov, 39, captioned his photo on Instagram to share with his 650,000 followers.
Eventually, an expert identified the fish as a chimaera — a cartilaginous fish also known as a “ghost shark.”
.Fedortsov’s post received a flurry of comments from shocked users.
A lot of the comments say that the creature looks like “a newly hatched dragon” or “a baby dragon!” Some even say that it “looks mythological.”
Most commenters freaked out and wrote that they will “not swim in the ocean ever again.” Many people might agree.
The Russian fisherman usually dives up to 3,000 feet below the surface, the Daily Mail reported.
Many of the fish he brought up from the deep sea die due to the change in pressure and temperature, he shared. Fedortsov has found plenty of other sea creatures that look like aliens. He often shares the photos to ask for help to identify his wild finds.
“All kinds of fish are beautiful in their own way. I cannot say that they are ‘scary’ or ‘ugly.’ People are very interested in unusual sea creatures,” he told the Daily Mail.
