WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- On Wednesday, a former starlet named Jane Doe filed a suit in Manhattan against Harvey Weinstein accusing him of sexual assault when she was a minor.
- The filing also alleged that Weinstein pursued the accuser for several years that caused her mental and health distress.
- Doe is the 10th victim among the many women who filed for sexual harassment and rape against the Hollywood producer.
Another victim of Harvey Weinstein filed her complaints on Wednesday in a Manhattan federal court, describing her allegations for the first time about the movie mogul’s disturbing conduct. According to the court filing, Weinstein allegedly assaulted a former Polish model sexually when she was a 16-year old virgin and subjected her to years of emotional abuse that led to depression and heightened anorexia.
Identified as Jane Doe in the court papers, she related that the alleged incident happened in 2002. After agreeing with Weinstein to meet for a business lunch to discuss her career, the suit alleges that Weinstein instead took her to his Soho apartment and “aggressively and threateningly” demanded sex.
The filing also stated that Weinstein forced the then 16-year-old upset starlet to fondle his penis, while saying that he had ‘made’ the careers of Gwyneth Paltrow and Penelope Cruz, and that without him, neither would be working.
The distressed underage model refused Weinstein’s demands which allegedly enraged him. Although eventually, the Hollywood producer got her an extra role in 2004’s ‘Nanny Diaries’, he continued to pursue her for the next decade, but still, she continued to resist his advances.
During an after-hours meeting in his office at Greenwich Street in 2008 where he arranged for her to be signed to the Marilyn modeling agency, Weinstein, who saw Christina Aguillera on TV allegedly blurted out his sexual attraction for the pop star, unzipped his pants and touched his penis.
“Jane Doe froze and fled the room,” the filing said.
Doe claimed that Weinstein made it clear to her every time that “she never received work” as payback for the many years of refusing to give in to his perverted desires.
Counted as the 10th victim to join the class action suit against Weinstein, the Weinstein Company and Miramax, Doe’s allegations join other lawsuits of 10 named plaintiffs, who accused the movie producer of assault and rape under the pretense of advancing their careers. The suit also alleged that the movie studio board was aware that he’s a sexual predator and abetted his wrongdoing by threatening and paying off the victims.
Ben Brafman, Weinstein’s criminal lawyer called the allegations “preposterous”. “Just as the other women in this case who were exposed as liars, this latest completely uncorroborated allegation that is almost 20 years old will be shown as patently false,” added Brafman.
Elior Shiloh, Weinstein’s civil lawyer declined to comment while Weinstein denies all allegations of non-consensual sex.
