Gangrene is a condition that happens when body tissue dies, which is typically caused by a loss of blood supply due to an underlying illness, like diabetes, injury or infection.
Most often affected body parts are fingers, toes, and limbs. But gangrene can also affect inside the body, damaging organs and muscles.
