WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- Former vice president Joe Biden’s second son Hunter Biden has split up with Hallie Biden, the widow of Hunter’s late brother, Beau.
- The couple’s two-year-long relationship started in 2017 after Beau died of brain cancer in 2015 and after Hunter divorced his wife of 22 years, Kathleen.
- The news came after Hunter told Vanity Fair that rumors about his personal life would not affect his father’s 2020 presidential bid.
Hunter Biden, the second son of presidential candidate Joe Biden, has broken up from Hallie Biden — the widow of his older brother, Beau. The split comes two years after Page Six first reported in 2017 that the former in-laws were exclusively dating.
Former vice president Joe Biden’s eldest son Beau died from brain cancer at age 46 in 2015. His widow Hallie found love again with Hunter.
Hallie has been contacted by Page Six but has told the media outlet, “No comment.” A source close to the Biden’s asked for privacy. Though the couple parted ways, sources hinted that the situation is “amicable.”
The news comes following Hunter’s interview with Vanity Fair, saying that rumors about his personal life would not affect the outcome of his dad’s presidential bid.
“My father has always been proud of me — whether when I was volunteering for the Jesuits, or working as a lawyer . . . And he remains proud of me today,” Hunter said in a statement early this year. “He loves me. And he loves the American people far too much to let any form of adversity stand in the way of service.”
One of the reasons Joe Biden decided to not run for president in 2016 was Beau’s death. In 2017, the former veep and his wife Jill issued a statement concerning Hunter and Hallie.
“We are all lucky that Hunter and Hallie found each other as they were putting their lives together again after such sadness,” Joe said. “They have mine and Jill’s full and complete support and we are happy for them.”
In April 2017, Hunter’s divorce from Kathleen Biden was finalized. The couple has been married for 22 years. She broke down outside a court, marking the end of their tumultuous split, Page Six reported. Hunter and Kathleen had been living separately since October 2015.
“The important aspect of my complicated divorce (like all divorces) and an equally complicated life, marked by the tragic loss of my mother, sister and brother, is this: My father has been a constant source of love and strength in my life,” Hunter told Vanity Fair.
