WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- Floyd Mayweather will be facing YouTuber Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition battle on June 6 at Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, Florida.
- Paul’s brother, Jake, said that the fight is a “terrible idea.”
- Mayweather, who has a 50-0 boxing record, is expected to be the match’s winner.
And the boxing match is on. Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul will officially meet in the ring on June 6.
The exhibition match will be held at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, which will be televised via Showtime pay-per-view. The bout was initially scheduled on February 20 which was indefinitely postponed. It was then set on June 5 but was eventually moved the following day.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix, the undercard bout will be a rematch of Badou Jack and Jean Pascal. In December 2019, Pascal defeated Jack via split decision.
On the past agreed fight terms, Mayweather will need to weigh in below 160 pounds, while Paul should weigh not higher than 190 pounds.
Mayweather, who retired from the sports with a 50-0 record, last had a bout on New Year’s Eve of 2018. He won in an exhibition match against Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa via first-round TKO.
The 44-year-old former pound-for-pound boxing champion had his last professional bout against UFC star Conor McGregor in 2017, where he won via 10th round TKO.
On the other hand, Paul had two boxing bouts, consisting of one exhibition and one professional match. He won against fellow YouTuber KSI.
Obviously, the public would unanimously pick Mayweather as the winner of this bout. Even Jake, Paul’s brother, said that his sibling is “f***ed.” Jake, who just defeated former UFC fighter Ben Askren, said that fighting Mayweather is a “terrible idea.”
The fight is anticipated to hit enormous pay-per-views, given the popularity of Mayweather in addition to the social media following of Paul. The match, however, is not expected to be action-packed as we all know that they will mainly face each other on the ring just to fatten their pockets.
