WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- Twelve years after being Smartwater’s iconic representative, Jennifer Aniston has ended her contract with the famous bottled water brand.
- Known for its sparkling water that began selling in 2015, Smartwater is now owned by The Coca-Cola Company.
- Aniston’s star power also drove the brand into becoming the world’s biggest bottled water brands valued at around $830 million last year.
Since partnering with the world’s biggest vapor-stilled water brands-Smartwater- since 2007, Jennifer Aniston is finally saying goodbye as the brand’s global ambassador.
The former ‘Friends’ star has helped Smartwater become one of the most popular bottled water brands on the market. The brand began offering sparkling water in 2015. As of 2019, Smartwater, which is now owned by The Coca-Cola Company, was estimated to be worth over $830 million.
Now that Aniston’s contract has ended, the new spokesperson to follow in her footsteps is none other than “Wonder Woman” star Gal Gadot.
Proudly sharing the news on Instagram, the 34-year-old Israeli-born actress wrote: “Smartwater has personally been a part of my life for many years and I’m excited to be a part of the team!”
Gadot told People that the partnership was a breeze adding that she only partners with brands that she believes in. “There’s people who struggle drinking water. I’m the opposite. I wake up and I drink Smartwater. I’ve been drinking Smartwater for years when I travel and run around on sets,” she said.
Gadot, a Revlon global brand ambassador since 2018, also revealed that she’s honored to fill Aniston’s shoes now, an actress whom she said she loved and admired for so long.
“She’s one of my favorite actresses, and I adore her and admire her work,” she told the HuffPost.
A rep for the water brand confirmed to People that Aniston’s contract ended at the end of 2019. “The brand is of course grateful for her involvement and will always be glad she is a friend of the brand!”
As the new spokesperson for Smartwater, Gadot will soon be appearing in both print and digital ads for the company as well as in a TV commercial.
Meanwhile, Smartwater is hoping to regenerate consumers’ interest in bottled water by launching four new flavored waters later this year. The new products include: Cucumber Lime, Strawberry Blackberry, Pineapple Kiwi and Watermelon Mint.
