WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- Kylie Jenner graces the cover of Forbes magazine’s August 2018 issue as the richest and youngest self-made woman with $900 million net worth.
- Jenner still needs $100 million to become the youngest ever self-made billionaire.
- Somebody has created a GoFundMe page for Kylie to help her raise the remaining $100 million, and people are actually donating.
Twenty-year-old Kylie Jenner is on track to become the world’s youngest self-made billionaire by 2019. That’s according to Forbes magazine which has the youngest Jenner gracing its August 2018 cover.
Forbes estimates her net worth at $900 million with the bulk of her wealth coming from her popular makeup company, Kylie Cosmetics.
If Kylie should become a billionaire next year, she will become the youngest-ever self-made billionaire at 21, overtaking Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg who made his first billion at 23. But Kylie still needs $100 million more.
One of her fans came to the rescue, launching a GoFundMe campaign on July 11.
Josh Ostrovsky, more popularly known as The Fat Jewish on Instagram, started the page to raise the remaining $US100 million that Kylie still needs to reach the billionaire status.
The comedian wrote: “Kylie Jenner was on the cover of Forbes magazine today for having a net worth of 900 million dollars, which is heartbreaking.”
“I don’t want to live in a world where Kylie Jenner doesn’t have a billion dollars,” Ostrovsky added.
And then he urged people to donate.
“WE MUST RAISE 100 MILLION DOLLARS TO HELP HER GET TO A BILLION, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD, THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.”
It was funny at first until people start donating.
Twitter users posted various reactions about the campaign. Obviously, most people were mad about it. But some reactions were hilarious.
One user, who is the “Spider-Man Fan Club President,” wrote: “Just emptied all $1,300 of my savings into the Kylie Jenner billionaire gofundme. Out here making a difference.”
But user “Kirsty” was not amused, “There are people starving, without homes or families, dying of disease and living in a country of war yet there is a GoFundMe for Kylie Jenner to get to billionaire status?” she wrote.
As of July 19, the GoFundMe Campaign has raised more than $2,000 for the soon-to-be billionaire.
