Kylie Jenner speaks out about makeup artist GoFundMe backlash

WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:

  • Kylie Jenner defended herself on Instagram following criticism from fans for asking for donations to a GoFundMe.
  • The GoFundMe is for celebrity makeup artist Samuel Rauda, who underwent major surgery following a serious car accident.
  • Though Kylie is known for her millions, fans bashed her for donating just $5,000.

Kylie Jenner is speaking out after she received backlash from fans for encouraging fans to donate to help cover celebrity artist Samuel Rauda’s medical bills following a serious car accident. According to La Demi, Rauda’s friend, “he flew off a moving vehicle crushing his head into the pavement,” resulting in horrific injuries to his brain. On March 14, Rauda underwent major surgery for his injuries.

Many criticized the reality star for only donating $5,000 to her friend despite being known for her luxurious lifestyle. Twitter users called her “heartless” and questioned why she didn’t just shoulder the bills entirely when her friend was in a “fight” for his life.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, she called the backlash a “false narrative”, saying that she’d seen her current makeup artist Ariel’s post about Rauda’s accident and immediately called to find out what happened to Sam.

According to Jenner, the goal was set at $10,000 when she visited the fundraising page and Rauda’s family had already raised $6,000. She decided to put in $5,000 so that the family would reach their original goal. On Instagram, she continued on to write, “I thought I’d post on my stories to gain more awareness if anyone also felt compelled to share or donate.”

Also, she noted that Rauda is no longer her makeup artist and they “don’t have a personal relationship anymore.” Jenner said she worked with Rauda a few years ago and describes him as “the sweetest.”

The GoFundMe page now has a goal of $120,000.
