WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- Harvey Weinstein is a Hollywood movie producer who is now facing multiple allegations of sexual harassment.
- His alleged victims is a long list of actresses and models including Gwyneth Paltrow, Rose McGowan, Ashley Judd, Cara Delevingne, Eva Green and Lupita Nyong’o to name a few.
- Late night hosts have attacked the movie mogul for all the disgusting advances he made to his victims but they were also attacked by conservatives.
The New York Post published a shocking story on Oct. 9 involving American film producer, Harvey Weinstein. As of this writing, Weinstein’s long list of accusers is now more than 50.
Stephen Colbert of The Late Show had to inform his audience who Weinstein is because not many people know who he is.
Colbert referred to him as the producer of “The English Patient, Shakespeare in Love, and other movies your mom liked in the ’90s.” And joked, “Pro tip: If you have dinner at the Weinsteins, avoid the fresh basil,” referring to an allegation of Weinstein “masturbating into a potted plant” in the presence of a woman.
On Late Night, Seth Meyers also used the “plant” in a joke saying, “The plant got a three-picture deal.”
While on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the host gave a less hilarious delivery: “What’s the difference between Harvey Weinstein and the Pillsbury Doughboy? When the Doughboy offers you a roll, he doesn’t ask you to watch him take a shower first.”
The Trumps and Fox News instantly called out these hosts for not doing the jokes sooner. Fox hosts criticized “liberal silence” which was followed by Donald Trump Jr., who tweeted about the absence of late night Weinstein jokes.
What Fox News was getting into is that Weinstein is a liberal. The producer has donated to Democratic campaigns including that of Hillary Clinton’s.
What happened was, the Weinstein scandal came out on a Thursday afternoon giving the hosts no time to prepare for their Friday shows. Fallon and Colbert’s Friday shows are taped on Thursdays. Both Kimmel and Colbert tweeted Weinstein jokes on Friday.
Kimmel even joked that he was part of the “biased left-wing media propaganda machine.”
Fox News host Sean Hannity attacked liberals saying “Hollywood liberals, Democrats are only slowly starting to condemn Weinstein. Hillary Clinton, who has accepted tens of thousands of dollars from Weinstein, is finally now denouncing him after a deafening silence.”
