WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- A 44-year-old man in Marlborough, Massachusetts said that on May 15, someone broke into his house but rather than steal anything, the intruder cleaned his entire home.
- The intruder even left folded origami-like roses on top of his toilet papers rolls.
- Nate Roman found it crazy but his guess is that a cleaning service mistakenly came to their house.
A man in Marlborough, Massachusetts came home from work on May 15 with his son to find something unusual.
Nate Roman first thought that they had been robbed. However, pon further inspection, the 44-year-old discovered that nothing was missing and left his home sparkling clean.
Roman, who lives in a single-family home in Marlborough, Massachusetts tells CNN he left for work that morning, came home after picking up his son and found his door was unlocked.
“[My son said], ‘Dad! The door is unlocked.’ Which I have done once every blue moon and didn’t think anything of it. But when we walked in immediately there was a vibe that something was wrong in the house,” Roman said.
He realized that someone may have been in his home so he went upstairs to check the rest of the house.
Roman was extremely surprised to discover that his son’s room, which was a mess when they left that morning, was cleaned. His room was also tidied up.
“Rugs were vacuumed, everything was neat and put away,” he said.
He immediately called the police who took the case very seriously. They made sure no one was still there.
Police told CNN affiliate WBZ-TV that there are no suspects and that the investigators have already talked to neighbors who found nothing suspicious.
“No crime happened, nothing was missing or damaged, so the police have very little to go on,” Roman said.
Unfortunately, the security system was not set so cameras that would be activated when the alarm goes off did not get images of the intruder. The time stamp on the door sensors indicated that the person who broke into the house stayed there for about 90 minutes.
Roman also discovered roses made from toilet paper in his bathroom, which made him think that this was probably the work of a professional cleaner. His wild guess is that a cleaning service came to the wrong address. However, his kitchen was not cleaned, making him do a second guess.
For safety, he has changed his locks and hoped to move past the incident. But he admits he kept the toilet paper roses as a souvenir.
