In a semi-retirement community in Henderson, Nevada, a clash of lifestyles has given rise to some early morning tension.
Kameron Evans, a young man living with his dad and working the early shift on the Grand Canyon West Rim, found a “creepy” and “passive aggressive” note tucked into the window of his van one morning.
Evans, whose day begins at 4:45 a.m., makes a conscious effort to keep quiet as he departs for work, especially since he parks his vehicle outside a neighbor’s house.
However, someone in the community evidently felt his efforts were inadequate.
“I close my door very quietly in order not to wake the neighbor whose house I park in front of. But then I went to work one morning and found a letter placed in the window of my vehicle…” Evans told Newsweek.
The note, written in block capitals, read:
“STOP SLAMING YOUR VAN DOORS!!!! THE NOISE YOU CREATE WAKES US UP!!!! IF THIS CONTINUES I WILL HAVE TO CONTACT THE ASSOCIATION & FILE A COMPLAINT!! YOU DO THIS IN THE A.M. HOURS, HAVE SOME COMMON SENSE!!!!”
Evans, who hadn’t had any previous “run-ins” with anyone on his street, expressed his surprise and mild aggravation at the message.
He found it particularly odd given that another resident down the block drives a semi truck, presumably with doors that require slamming.
But, rather than getting drawn into a neighborhood feud, Evans took to Reddit to share the note and seek feedback on the situation.
The response was a vibrant cocktail of empathy, criticism, and advice from Reddit users, earning the post over 32,000 upvotes in six days.
Some sympathized with the grumpy neighbor, while others defended Evans and his early morning routine.
One user summed it up succinctly: “Sometimes you can solve your own problems without being an a****** to your neighbors that are just trying to go about their life.”
Although the anonymous note hasn’t drastically changed Evans’ morning routine, he has made minor adjustments, occasionally leaving a little earlier or being extra cautious when closing the van doors.
Still, he wishes the note-writer had addressed the issue directly.
Evans said, “If I could speak directly to the person, I would first ask why they didn’t come directly to me and ask, instead of just leaving a passive aggressive note.”
As it stands, this is a classic case of urban living where the hustle and bustle of working life collides with the quieter pace of retirement.
It’s a reminder that the smallest of our actions can ripple out, affecting those around us in ways we might not anticipate.

Hey Mother Nature can you cut back on the bang in your Thunderstorms and maybe the bright light.
