WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- While Kobe Bryant’s well-timed appearance at “The Last Dance” was expected, many basketball fans worldwide were not ready with last Sunday’s episode.
- The latest episode of the ESPN’s special docu-series was opened with Michael Jordan’s final appearance in the 1998 NBA All-Star game, with Kobe still 19-year old at the time.
- Filmed interview of Kobe was also featured as he talks about his admiration of Jordan.
While everyone seems to expect what will be highlighted by the Sunday’s episode of the “The Last Dance” by ESPN, only a few were ready, at least emotionally, of what was about to be unveiled next.
The fifth series kicked off as the “little Laker boy” through the 1998 All-Star Game video clip, seeing Kobe Bryant again was surely another memorable scene from the series, “The Last Dance.”
The Sunday’s episode opened up with a simple yet powerful sequence, the phrase, “In loving memory of Kobe Bryant.”
Part 5 of “The Last Dance” started with the NBA’s All-Star Game with Michael Jordan’s wearing his famous Bulls uniform, and it was slated to be the legendary player’s final appearance on the special.
Kobe at the time was only 19 years old, gaining stardom and yet fans and NBA analysts alike already compare him to Jordan.
Prior to Bryant’s untimely death because of a helicopter crash this early year, he appeared on a filmed interview, explaining his thoughts about being compared and playing on the basketball court against Jordan.
Bryant’s respect towards another basketball legend was also echoed by Jordan. During the Lakers icon’s memorial service at Staple’s Center, Jordan was seen in tears while describing his connection with Bryant.
As many NBA fans would have imagined, it is still overwhelming for many to realize this world has lost a young legend, especially after seeing Bryant speaking about basketball while photographs of his earlier years as a professional player flashed across the film.
