HERE’S THE SCOOP:
- In Brazil, two armed robbers held dental office employees at knifepoint and forced them into an exam room.
- The patient sitting in the chair in the middle of an exam happened to be an off-duty police officer.
- The hero cop thwarted the criminals, and security camera footage captured the whole thing.
An off-duty cop took a bite out of crime when he foiled two muggers who tried to rob a dentist’s office in the middle of his exam.
Security camera footage shows two armed robbers forcing patients and dental office employees into an examination room at knifepoint. However, little did they know that the patient in the dentist’s chair was an off-duty officer of Brazil’s Federal District Military Police force.
The unnamed Brazilian cop gets up from the chair with his hands up and lowers himself to the ground, facedown. One of the thieves approaches the 46-year-old to search his pockets. That’s when the officer suddenly wrestles the suspect to the ground and holds him at gunpoint.
The video shows the second mugger charging into the room, but soon after, the cop shoots and wounds him. Newsweek reported that the injury was not life-threatening.
The not-so-dynamic duo, both 19, were arrested.
