  • Reporter’s video allegedly showed that Olympic gold champion Klete Keller was in the crowd during the Capitol riot last Wednesday.
  • If identity is confirmed, Keller could face federal charges of unlawful entry and disorderly conduct
  • Now working as a real estate agent for Hoff & Leigh, the swimmer is out of reach.

Olympic gold champion swimmer Klete Keller, who won two gold medals for Team USA, reportedly took part in the mad mob that wrecked the US Capitol last Wednesday.

Keller was seen as part of the Capitol crowd in a video posted by reporter Julio Rosas, according to the New York Times and the swimming site SwimSwam.

Allegedly, the swimmer was the tall, bearded man wearing a distinct Team USA jacket, who appeared a number of times in the middle of the crowd.

If Keller is confirmed to be the man in the video, although he didn’t engage in any violent activity, he could face federal charges of unlawful entry and disorderly conduct. Similarly, identified marchers will be subject to the same assaults. Some would face even more serious federal offenses for having firearms and committing theft.

The news didn’t surprise most people interviewed by the New York Times as Keller is known as a loyal follower of President Donald Trump. According to some of them, his social media accounts, which have been deleted, had a lot of pro-Trump posts.

Having joined the 2000, 2004, and 2008 Olympics, the 38-year-old swimmer won two bronze medals, one silver medal, and two gold medals.

Keller also set the American record for the 400m freestyle in 2004 and the world record for the 800m relay in 2007 — both records have been broken.

His profile and all references to him were taken down from the SwimSwam website.

Currently, Keller resides in Colorado Springs, according to SwimSwam and the Times. As confirmed by SwimSwam on Monday, he now works as a real estate agent for the firm Hoff & Leigh. The corporation, though, declined to comment on the news about Keller when Yahoo Sports reached to them.

As of this writing, Keller was unsuccessfully contacted.
