A now-viral video has captured the moment a Brazilian man fled for his life mere seconds after a red tidal wave of mud reminiscent of the biblical Red Sea crashed into his home.
The flood of biblical proportions rushed into his home, demolishing everything in its path and leaving his residence flooded and mud-soaked.
According to a report from Jam Press, a torrential downpour occurred last Thursday in the central Brazilian city of Anápolis. The heavy rains forced a 5 1/2-foot column of sludge to amass and crash against the wall of the man’s house.
The 37-year-old man, Rômulo do Carmo, shared how he had already spotted some cracks in the barrier the previous day. It turns out that the next door’s vacant plot had rising water that has been causing the cracks.
The next day, the barrier relented and the floodgates opened.
In the video, the man can be seen calmly walking around his front porch while talking to someone on his phone. Moments later, he started running to the side. Within seconds, a tsunami of red mud crashes through his house.
The raging waters and mud swept everything away in its path, including a large concrete slab that almost broke the legs of Rômulo’s wife.
Thanks to Rômulo’s quick thinking, he managed to flee from the deluge and cling onto a beam.
The “Red Sea” tidal wave cost Rômulo about 24,000 Brazillian Real ($4,281.36) in damages. Their furniture, rugs, and clothing, among others, were completely destroyed.
