WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- Sienna and Alyx posted a viral parody video on TikTok saying that Scorpios are gay.
- The video has been taken down from the social networking platform, citing violations of community guidelines set by the company.
- TikTok acknowledges that the video had been removed as a mistake, promises to further improve their service.
Sienna and Alyx decided to videotape themselves on Valentine’s Day for a clip where they caution couples against the act of lovemaking love on the romantic holiday. The video jokingly says that these actions would bear babies that would be born on the Scorpio season.

These college roommates started with, “This one goes out to all the horny couples out there who are thinking of getting rowdy this Valentine’s Day evening,” forwarding their advice: “Do not.”
The pair went on to explain why this is.
“If you do, your child will be born a Scorpio,” they say. “Now, why don’t we like Scorpios? For starters, ‘Scorpio’ has seven letters. Seven letters? Seven deadly sins.”
The two proceeded to ask questions like, “Now, what are the seven deadly sins?”.
To which they give the answer to and made absurd correlations that made little sense, “Wrath, sloth, gluttony, envy. Envy is associated with the color green. What else is green? Marijuana. Just one more pothead in the world. Lame” they said.
“Now, where is pot legal?” the two continue. “Canada, Washington, Colorado, Oregon, Alaska, airplane bathrooms if the pilot’s chill. And where can planes take you? California. And what’s on California’s state flag? A bear.”
By the end of the video, the two say, “Your child is gay.”
The video was posted all in good fun, but to their surprise, they, later on, received notice that the video clip they have posted on the social media platform had been removed for violating “community guidelines.”
“We thought it was either because we mentioned gay people, because they thought we were being homophobic, or because we mentioned weed,” she says.
Following the video being taken down, a representative from TikTok acknowledges that there was an error made and the video should not have been removed, explaining that the company makes use of “a combination of technology and human moderation strategies to detect and review content.”
The company assures social media users that they will “use learnings like these to continually hone” their “moderation efforts.”
The video has since been reposted now with nearly two million likes and over 25,000 comments, captioned “TIKTOK PLEASE DON’T TAKE THIS DOWN AGAIN WE’RE LITERALLY GAY 🙁 #FYP”.
“This needs so much more recognition,” one user said on the comment section.
“Um. Yes,” another wrote. “I am a Scorpio and all these things are true.”
Scorpios are those born between Oct. 23 and Nov. 21. These people are “emotional, imaginative and intense.” However, they can also be “controlling,” “obsessive,” “secretive,” “vengeful” and “morbid.” This is based on a Cosmopolitan article published in October.
