WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- TikTok user Ava Louise starts a “coronavirus challenge” by licking a toilet seat in an airplane.
- People on the internet did not appreciate the publicity stunt, calling it stupid.
- Ava Louise makes false claims about the virus, saying that the virus “is for poor people and poor people only.”
Social media trolls are on the rise amid global efforts to slow the coronavirus transmission. The health crisis apparently, had people making excuses for doing something gross to advance their popularity.
TikTok user Ava Louise posted a video she took of herself licking the toilet seat in an airplane comfort room. She claims that the stunt was to try and start a “coronavirus challenge”, perhaps for the 23,000 users that follow her account. The video posted has been viewed over 400,000 times after it has been uploaded on Twitter March 14.
Please RT this so people can know how to properly be sanitary on the airplane 🥰😅 pic.twitter.com/x7GX9b4Lxc— Ava Louise (ig @avalouiise) (@realavalouiise) March 14, 2020
Louise invited her followers to share this “coronavirus challenge”, saying, “Please RT this so people can know how to properly be sanitary on the airplane.”
The video did not sit well with the audience from both social media platforms.
“Put her ass in jail!” The View host Meghan McCain wrote, criticizing the antic.
People on the internet did not appreciate the publicity stunt pulled. “WTF is wrong with people? Are they so desperate for their 15 minutes of fame?”, asked one user.
One Tiktok user described the stunt as ” just gross, even without the current [coronavirus] hysteria.”
Tweets that read, “How totally stupid”, and “I’m sure her parents are proud,” were commented at the video posted.
“I’m looking for a record deal and a reality show about my messy life”, Louise told PEOPLE.
Louise said that she is immune to the virus because she is neither gay or a rich blonde. This incited irritation and the reaction from social media has gone more sour.
She tweeted on March 13 that coronavirus “is for poor people and poor people only.”
“I’m so glad that coronavirus is taking out all the old people,” she added. “I hope it takes me out next so I never get ugly!”
Louise, in the interview with Business Insider, says that the video she made paved the way for “capitalizing off” the fear over the global coronavirus pandemic that has killed 7,490 as of Tuesday afternoon, the New York Times reports.
“Now I’m like global news,” she told Business Insider.
