WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- Music icon John Legend may be PEOPLE’s 2019 choice for “sexiest man alive” but a lot of people disagree, including talk show host Wendy Williams.
- According to Williams, “When I think about a sexy man I’m not thinking ‘John Legend’ because I weigh so much more than him.”
- The media personality told her viewers that her choice is ‘Aquaman’ Jason Momoa, saying: “I need a man to throw me over his shoulder and say, ‘come on girl—we’re going.’”
PEOPLE magazine may have chosen musician John Legend as this year’s “sexiest man alive” but talk show host Wendy Williams does not approve.
Williams told viewers of The Wendy Williams Show that Legend isn’t the first man she thinks of when she hears the word “sexy.”
“When I think about a sexy man I’m not thinking ‘John Legend,’ Williams said of PEOPLE’s 2019 pick.
The media personality added: “The first thing I think of is that I weigh so much more than him and if we were walking down the street and somebody wanted to spray me with a water gun I need a man who’s gonna punch someone in the face.”
Williams then said that if she could think of one person who should have gotten the “sexiest man alive” honor “it would be Jason Momoa.”
Her studio audience cheered in agreement.
“If you know, I’m not quite feeling right after leaving the club I need a man to throw me over his shoulder and say, ‘come on girl—we’re going,’” Williams explained the reason she would pick the Aquaman star over The Voice coach.
“John is not that guy,” she added.
Meanwhile, Legend’s wife Chrissy Teigen bragged about being married to PEOPLE’s 2019 choice on Twitter:
