WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- A woman fell from a car onto a busy highway while filming a Snapchat video.
- She was dangling from the front passenger window when she fell along a major roadway south of London.
- The police said she wasn’t seriously injured during the incident.
Getting a video for social media likes or follows isn’t worth losing your life over. This week, a woman fell out of a car as she was filming a Snapchat video while dangling outside of the front passenger window.
Police from Surrey, England shared on Saturday on Twitter about the incident involving the unnamed woman. It happened along a major roadway south of London, along the M25. The police wrote that she “fell out the car into a live lane.”
The Roads Policing Unit added that it was only sheer luck that the woman didn’t get seriously injured or even killed.
The Surrey Police said that there was no necessity for arrests to be made and “no person or property was likely to be at any further risk.” Hopefully, though, people will think twice about this kind of thing. “Those involved certainly learnt a thing or two that night.”
Social media users asked the police if they told the passengers off about the “errors of their ways” and they responded that they very likely “worked it out” even before they talked to them about it.
In the Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care, around 259 people around the world died while taking selfies between the years 2011 and 2017.
Just last year, the Miami Herald reported that a 23-year-old woman lost her life in a hit-and-run accident after she fell out of a car’s right rear passenger window. She fell after yelling “Bye, Miami!”. When she landed on the road, a Range Rover traveling behind them struck her, stopped, then just drove away. This happened on the freeway to the airport on State Road 112.
