Woman found guilty for robbing a bank to fund plastic surgery

  • An Alabama woman was found guilty of robbing a bank in 2019 to fund her plastic surgery.
  • This is the second bank robbery committed by the thief.
  • The suspect pleaded guilty to the charge.

A woman from Alabama named Iconic Facce was found guilty of robbing a Mississippi bank two years ago to finance her plastic surgery.

The trial was originally slated for June 28, 2021, but Facce requested to plead guilty beforehand.

According to NBC News, the 39-year-old thief was charged with two counts of armed robbery and was sentenced by Circuit Judge Randi Peresich Mueller to the maximum term of 15 years on each count.

The charges stem from a robbery of the BancorpSouth in Gulfport, Mississippi in 2019. During that time, prosecutors argued that the motive of the robbery was to fund sexual reassignment surgery, according to AL.com.

The crime was made known to the Gulfport police through a hidden alarm activated by the bank branch being robbed. Bank employees told the responding police that the suspect handed a clerk at a teller window a handwritten note that read: “You have 1 min to give the money do not be wrong or die.”

The suspect did not seem to carry any weapons, according to the bank tellers. However, the tellers did recall that the suspect’s face was swollen, which indicates that she may have recently gone under the knife for a cosmetic operation.

A surveillance system captured the robbery, while Facce’s abandoned Cadillac was discovered by authorities near the bank, according to the Associated Press.

The authorities sent photos of the suspect with a note urging the public to help identify the thief.

The bank employees easily recognized the suspect in a photo lineup.

On March 30, 2019, the suspect was detained at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport after she re-entered the country from Mexico. Mugshots of the suspect showed her wearing surgical tape around her nose, leading authorities to believe that she had gotten the cosmetic operation in Mexico.

But apparently, this was not the thief’s first crime.

According to AL.com, Facce, whose birth name is Jimmy Maurice Lewis II, was found guilty of another robbery on January 20, 2009, in the US District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. The suspect reportedly forced a teller to give her at least $20,000. Facce was put in federal prison for 51 months for that case.

She legally changed her name to Iconic Facce after he was freed, Fox reported.
