WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- A Virginia woman’s date went to the bathroom when a stranger handed her a note telling her to “run.”
- The note said, “Too many red flags. Run. Be safe girl.”
- The unusual warning amassed significant attention on Twitter before the woman temporarily locked her account.
A Virginia woman’s date night took a bizarre turn when a stranger handed her a note warning her to “run” because her companion showed “too many red flags.”
“I had coffee with a guy yesterday. When he went to the bathroom, the gay guy sitting behind me passed me this note,” user Hadia S tweeted along with a photo of the note.
The note, written on the back of a receipt, read: “Too many red flags. Run. Be safe girl.”
The post amassed nearly two thousand replies, many of which implored Hadia to elaborate on what the stranger meant by “red flags.”
She obliged. One of the warning signs she recalled was the two didn’t see “eye-to-eye” on rapper Da Baby’s recent scandal involving homophobic comments. Another involved her date’s alleged support of Kevin Samuels, a YouTuber who reportedly urged his male followers to make misogynistic and violent comments toward women.
However, she ultimately did not heed the stranger’s warning.
“I’m sure my guardian angel was exhausted and was like ‘B***H, LEAVE,'” Hadia tweeted.
She added that the note was “greatly appreciated and added some laughs to my night,” and that, “there won’t be a second date.”
