The 30-year-old has now become the newest online sensation after she belted out Lady Gaga’s “Shallow”. Posted on Twitter since Tuesday, her superb rendition of the song from the hit movie “A Star is Born” has raked in more than 23 million views.
British web celebrity Kevin Freshwater dared random subway commuters with his “Finish the Lyrics” challenge of the Oscar-award winning song.
After subsequent vocal ball drops, the web personality found the ‘extra-ordinary’ in Awbery whom he prompted her with the lyrics “Tell me something, girl: Are you happy in this modern world?”. To his surprise, the blond-haired woman sang the missing lyrics “Or do you need more” seamlessly.
In the clip, Freshwater commended the talented straphanger, who turned out as a professional singer in the UK, with her rendition and even encouraged her to continue belting out the chorus of “Shallow.”
One Twitter fan said that the Star is Born lead star needs to see the phenomenal subway singing discovery.
“We need to find this woman because whew she can SING,” added by the Twitter fan.
Another fan exclaimed, “Sis had them pipes on READY.”
The longer version of this viral hit has been viewed 13 million times on Facebook, an indication that the latest singing wonder who got discovered on Freshwater’s Finish the Lyrics has now gotten the attention of the public.
It was not the first time Awbery got noticed by netizens. Her covers of Judy Garland’s “Over the Rainbow”, Sia’s “Chandelier”, Prince’s “Purple Rain” and Celine Dion’s “Love Is On The Way” were all-certified online hits.
