WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- Mark Ruffalo is endorsing Bernie Sanders and appearing in a promotional video in support of the Democratic presidential candidate.
- The actor, who played ‘The Hulk” in “The Avengers” franchise, says the Vermont senator is “one of us.”
- The endorsement doesn’t come as much of a surprise, considering Ruffalo supported Sanders in the 2016 election and has been vocally supportive of him since then.
Actor Mark Ruffalo is endorsing Sen. Bernie Sanders in his 2020 presidential bid, saying repeatedly that the Vermont senator is “one of us.”
In a video released by Sanders’ campaign, Ruffalo announced his endorsement and said that Sanders brings significant issues like climate change, debt relief for college students and health care to the forefront of the national conversation.
“People considered those things to be pie in the sky in 2016, right?” “The Avengers” actor said in the clip. “Now they are the norm because Bernie stood and walked into those issues that he knew were the right issues for the American working class.”
The actor, popular for playing “The Hulk” in “The Avengers” franchise, went on to praise Sanders as the “original progressive,” adding he would make an “excellent and historic president.”
Ruffalo then continued to say: “We need a leader who’s actually one of us, and Bernie is one of us and he’s always been one of us.”
The actor’s endorsement doesn’t come as much of a surprise. He supported Sanders in the 2016 election and has been very vocal on his support of the senator since then.
The 52-year-old actor isn’t the only celebrity to endorse Sanders. Last month, pop superstar Ariana Grande showed his support to Sanders by posting photos of herself and the senator on Twitter, thanking him for going to her Atlanta concert. The singer even referred to the candidate as “my guy.” Miley Cyrus and rapper Cardi B have also displayed their support behind Sanders’ 2020 presidential bid.
