A man named ‘Kevin’ who tested his luck and spent his Christmas Eve at a Las Vegas casino won a fortune..
The Suncoast Hotel and Casino announced that ‘Kevin’ hit the jackpot and won almost $15.5 million from one of its slot machines on Thursday.
Suncoast Casino tweeted “MEGABUCKS JACKPOT ALERT! Congratulations to Kevin for hitting the $15,491,103 Megabucks Progressive Jackpot at @suncoastcasino!”
It also posted a photo of the winner, who definitely doesn’t want to be identified, holding a massive check.
Kevin won the jackpot from an International Game Technology Megabucks slot machine around 12:30 pm on Thursday, according to a news report shared with Fox News. The lucky man reportedly put only $40 into the slot machine but the return made everyone in the room drop their jaws.
According to Boyd Gaming – the owner of Suncoast Casino, it was the biggest slot machine jackpot Las Vegas has seen in eight long years.
“It was certainly a Christmas Eve to remember,” a Boyd Gaming spokesman told Fox News. “We’re excited and honored we could play a part in this historic holiday jackpot at the Suncoast.”
Kevin didn’t want his picture taken nor give his full name for safety reasons. But he said he divides his time between Nevada and Alaska. According to Boyd, Gaming Kevin intends to use the money to support his business and “pay it forward.”
Facebook users have extended their congratulations and well wishes to the jackpot winner.
“Congrats!!!!! I can’t even win a $100 and I’m there every weekend,” one user wrote with a laughing emoji.
“Wow,” another person chimed in. “Merry Christmas to you.”
According to records from International Game Technology, one of the world-record slot machine jackpots to happen in Las Vegas was in 2003. A 25-year-old Los Angeles man won $39.7 million at the MGM Resorts-owned Excalibur Hotel & Casino.
In 2000, an unidentified woman won $34.9 million jackpot at the now closed Desert Inn Resort.
It’s not just Kevin who won big last week. On Tuesday, a North Carolina laid-off preschool teacher won $250,000 from a scratch-off ticket, according to an announcement post from the NC Education Lottery.
