WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- A DNA test has proven with ‘scientific certainty’ that Democratic presidential contender Joe Biden’s son Hunter is the father of an Arkansas woman’s child, according to a document filed on Wednesday.
- Legal documents also contended that Hunter will not challenge the results.
- The woman initially named Hunter Biden as the father in a paternity suit in May, which Hunter denied, but eventually agreed to a paternity test last month.
A court filing on Wednesday stated that DNA test had confirmed that Hunter Biden, the son of former Vice President Joe Biden, is the father of a child in Arkansas.
According to the motion filed by the woman’s attorneys in Independence County, Arkansas, a DNA test has “established with scientific certainty” that Biden was the baby’s father.
Although Biden has publicly denied he was the father, he consented to a paternity test in October following a petition for child support filed in May by 28-year-old Lunden Alexis Roberts who also named Biden as the father of her one-year-old child.
However, Roberts’ lawyers said they did not expect Hunter Biden to challenge the results of the DNA test.
In the petition, Roberts also requested the court to seal the child’s identity and public records to ensure the child’s safety, citing political status of 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
Roberts’ lawyers also noted that Biden’s family members are protected by the US Secret Service suggesting that the child is also eligible for protection as Joe Biden’s grandchild.
Neither Joe Biden’s campaign nor a representative for Hunter Biden have publicly given their comments yet.
The latest development comes as Hunter continues to be the subject of intense scrutiny over his suspicious business dealings in Ukraine and whether or not his father Joe Biden who was vice president at the time used his position to prevent his son’s prosecution. So far, no evidence of wrongdoing by Joe and Hunter Biden in Ukraine were reported.
