WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- Dunkin’ Donuts is offering a spicy new treat this Halloween: the spicy ghost pepper donut.
- The unique treat is topped with a strawberry-flavored icing infused with a spicy blend of ghost pepper and cayenne, sprinkled with red sanding sugar.
- The donut chain is also offering the fan-favorite spider donut and DIY donut decorating kits as part of their Halloween menu.
Dunkin’ restaurants are jumping on the trend of incorporating spicy treats on their menu. Their latest addition to the menu? A spicy ghost pepper donut.
The one-of-a-kind treat features the classic yeast donut ring, but the topping is made of strawberry-flavored icing infused with a spicy blend of ghost pepper and cayenne, sprinkled with red sanding sugar.
Jill Nelson, Vice President of Marketing Strategy at Dunkin’, said in a press release, “Halloween looks a little different this year, and so do our donuts. While our classic bakery offering has plenty of crave-worthy treats, we’re excited to show our spicy side with a donut that packs a touch of heat with something sweet and can be enjoyed any time of day.”
The company encouraged customers to try out the spicy treat or perhaps surprise their friends and share their reactions on social media using #DunkinSpicySide.
Their Halloween menu includes a return of the fan-favorite spider donut. This classic ring donut has a Halloween-themed orange frosting and is topped with a chocolate glazed munchkin made to look like a spider.
The donut chain is also offering a DIY Donut Decorating kit, which could be a perfect activity for families who opt to celebrate Halloween indoors.
Perhaps the kids will prefer decorating donuts instead of pumpkins?
You can choose plain or old fashioned donuts for the DIY decorating kit, which comes with pre-packaged icing and sprinkles in Halloween-themed colors.
“Dunkin’ is here to help our guests keep their Halloween spirit alive this season” with its Halloween offerings, added Nelson.
The donut chain will be offering the spider donuts and the DIY kits until supplies last. The ghost pepper donut, meanwhile, will be available until December for a limited time at participating locations nationwide.
