WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- Hugh Jackman continued his friendly “feud” with Ryan Reynolds when he made a pitch for a role in Deadpool 3.
- In a short clip he shared on Twitter, an NYC officer who approached Jackman asked Reynolds to get him a role for the Marvel threequel, or he’ll get ticketed in the city.
- The two have been trolling each other ever since Reynolds’ appearance as Deadpool in Jackman’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie.
Deadpool fans may be getting what they’ve been wanting to see in the movie franchise: Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine making a cameo.
That is, if Ryan Reynolds and the Deadpool 3 creators take the Oscar-nominated actor up on his offer.
Jackman made his pitch on Saturday via footage he shared on Twitter.
The short clip lets us see from the perspective of Jackman, who is approached by a New York police officer named John Dobkowski. The actor initially thought that he was getting a ticket.
But when he realizes that he’s not in trouble, he starts a friendly exchange.
He had Officer Dobkowski say, “Hey, Ryan. You’ve got to get this guy [Jackman] in Deadpool 3, even if it’s for a ten-minute cameo. That would be awesome. That movie will be so cool, so great, it will blow the box office.”
“Or I’ll ticket you,” Jackman coached the officer to say, which he did. The officer made the faux threat of ticketing Reynolds whenever he comes to New York City, if he does not take him up on his offer.
Jackman shared the footage on Twitter with the caption, “Officer Dobkowski is doling out incredibly smart career advice for @VancityReynolds. Sharing is caring.”
The two actors have been on a friendly “feud” for years — perhaps ever since they did the X-Men Origins: Wolverine together in 2009, where Reynolds first appeared as the wisecracking mercenary Deadpool.
Deadpool fans, along with Reynolds, have been clamoring for the character’s own movie after that. This wish was eventually answered when the first Deadpool movie premiered in 2016. The movie introduced the origins of the character, whose physical appearance was permanently changed by a science experiment gone wrong, and his plan to take revenge. The box office hit was followed by its sequel, Deadpool 2, in 2018.
Deadpool 3 is reportedly in development with scriptwriters Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin, Deadline reported last November.
Fans will have to wait and see if Jackman indeed bags a role in the Marvel threequel.
