WHAT’S BEING CLAIMED:
- Taco Bell is launching a new chain in the Big Apple.
- The new chain will allow customers to order through digital ordering stations inside the store.
- Customers can also order ahead through the Taco Bell app and pick it up without having to wait in line.
A digital-only Taco Bell chain has launched its flagship store in Times Square on April 14th.
The all-digital approach means customers can order through digital ordering stations inside the store instead of in-person ordering with a cashier.
Through their “Order Ahead Pickup Cubbies” option in the Taco Bell App, customers can place their orders and pick them up without having to wait in any lines.
An exclusive treat also awaits customers visiting the new chain. During its opening, Taco Bell Times Square will offer the exclusive and limited Bell Apple Freeze product, a combination of green apple and cherry flavors swirled together, which isn’t available at any other locations.
Recognizing that Times Square is a tourist spot, the store is also offering trinkets like sauce packet keychains, pin sets, and pens with sauce packet designs that will serve as souvenirs for Times Square visitors. These trinkets can also be ordered through a digital kiosk.
The new store is located within Times Square’s Paramount Building. As a part of Taco Bell’s growing Cantina family of stores, the new chain will also sell alcoholic drinks for those of age.
To adhere to the health protocols issued last year, the fast food chain focused on drive-thru and curbside service and trimmed down their menu.
In an interview with Forbes last summer, Taco Bell product development head Heather said they trimmed down and streamlined operations to ensure a quicker and speedier experience for drive-thru customers.
“But this is phase one,” Heather continued, “What this also does is, when the time’s right and consumers are ready, it allows us to build out new options and new innovations.”
